Open skills are available for any player to purchase.

Called missile effects do not count against the number of shots in your quiver. If you block an attack with your bow or crossbow, your bow cannot be used for any missile attacks, either called or uncalled, until you take a 10 second Rest. | Courier | 4 | N/A | You can send a physical message across the Lattice to a recipient that you have met and been formally or informally introduced to or for whom you have a skill or plot effect granting you the ability to reach out to that person. For example, if you saw the Monarch of your country from the other side of a building, that is not an introduction. However, if you went before them and your name given to them, then you have been introduced. This is a physical letter, while it travels the magics of the Lattice and therefore can arrive in a short time, letters cannot be sent to great beings of the Shade or spirits of the dead or similar beings who don’t get mail. As this is a letter and there is no guarantee they will respond, but cultural expectations say they will. | N/A |

| Research | 4 | N/A | From your foundation and culture you can gain research topics. If you have access to a research topic you can submit a research request on a given topic. This skill does not provide topics by default. Topics can be earned in game through role play or purchased from your Culture or Foundation. When you submit a question, plot will reply with details on the topic. If the question is too broad or very deep, then plot may reply with some information and say, “There is more information here, but I don’t have time to include it now”. That means if you want the additional information, you should submit a continuation of research request the next event. You will be able to gain additional research topics through the game. | N/A |
