Attributes & Vitality
Attributes
Numina has five attributes, Prowess, Insight, Fortitude, Void, and Purpose. Prowess, Insight and Fortitude are spent when you utilize a skill. For example, a skill to perform a melee attack of ‘5 damage’ might cost 1 Prowess. Another skill, say to allow you to make a packet attack for ‘Paralyze by Force’ might cost 2 Insight to use. When you spend a point of Prowess, Insight or Fortitude they are gone until they are restored by any effect which says ‘Refresh’ to the specific attribute. The number associated with the Refresh effect will determine how many points are restored. You start with 2 points each of Prowess, Insight and Fortitude.
Void
You start with two points of Void. You can spend a point of Void to refresh up to three points of attributes while taking a short rest. You may use these refreshed points on any of the three attributes, Fortitude, Insight, or Prowess.
Purpose
You start with five points of Purpose. You may spend a point of Purpose to refresh up to ten point of attributes while taking a long rest. You may use these refreshed points on any of the three attributes, Fortitude, Insight, or Prowess. When you spend a point of Purpose, all of your void is refreshed as well.
The cost to increase any of your five Attributes is shown in the chart below. Some Domains, Excellencies, and Aspects may give a character an additional point (or more!) of an Attribute. These extra Attributes are not counted when checking the Cost to Increase an Attribute on the chart below. For example if you have an Insight of 6 where 4 are from Attribute purchases and your base, and 2 were purchased via Skills, the next increase would cost the same as increasing from 4 to 5, not from 6 to 7. Regardless of source, you cannot purchase more than 10 points of any of the three attributes of Prowess, Insight or Fortitude. The value of an Attribute can exceed the maximum based on in-game effects. For example, if you have a 10 Prowess and gain a ‘Grant 1 Prowess’ effect, your Prowess for that game would be an 11.
| Attribute | Starting Value | Cost to Increase | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prowess | 2 | Cost of next attribute | 10 |
| Insight | 2 | Cost of next attribute | 10 |
| Fortitude | 2 | Cost of next attribute | 10 |
| Void* | 2 | N/A | 10 |
| Purpose | 5 | 4 | 10 |
Void cannot currently be purchased. This is part of the rework tied to Purpose/Void changes.
Vitality
Characters in Numina start with 2 Vitality. You increase Vitality by purchasing additional points directly or through skills. Calculating CP costs for purchasing Vitality follows the same costs and restrictions as other attributes. A character has a maximum of 7 Vitality. Just like the other Attributes effects in-game can increase your Vitality above the maximum. You start each event at with your Vitality full.
| Attribute | Starting Value | Cost to Increase | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vitality | 2 | Cost of next Vitality | 7 |
